TO END THE SPECULATION...

As the season quickly approaches, there have been plenty of rumors coming out of the conference, as well as locally, concerning the upcoming season and this much is known for sure...

TRUE: Saige Pernie, Aletheia's best player, backed out of her decision to transfer to Central for her Senior season. The All-Conference player would have been the second Aletheia player in as many seasons to jump ship and play for Central (after being heavily recruited).

TRUE: Alethia has a new coach. As nice as he was, the school wanted to move in a new direction with the GV program.

TRUE: Arnold has new GV coach. After going 0-19 last season, it was time for a change. The new coach is an assistant coach for the football team. He is expected to bring some much needed "toughness" to the team. He's already said they'll be using the Read & React Offense and playing Man-to-Man defense. Hmm, with the right talent, it sounds like Arnold may make some noise this season.

TRUE: Maranatha's coach Ginny Smith (Volleyball & Basketball) has resigned and is no longer with the school. Maranatha made significant improvement under coach Smith and was finally poised to contend with Grace for one of the top two spots in the East Region.

UNCONFIRMED: With first year conference member Eagle Nest on the schedule, a rumor has been floating around that they have a player that is 6'3. "Pink Guy" (former PCCS coach) is now coaching at EN, and he probably remembers our last beating...err.. I mean meeting (we were ahead 50-4 at halftime), my guess is the rumor is false, but when he travels to our gym on November 19th, he'll probably wish he had a few 6 footers.

TRUE: Grace's Logan Worsham has transferred from Grace and will not be playing this season.

TRUE: Grace's Emma Heard is still up in the air about whether or not she will play this season. She says her first love is softball and she may be playing for a traveling team during hoops season. She's 50/50 at the moment. My guess is that she will be suiting up for the Cougars in November.

TRUE: "Towel Boy" is actually being nice. It started during the East Regional and continued into the Final Four last season. Not sure why, but at yesterday's volleyball game, he was just as friendly as can be. That's a good thing.

TRUE: Bozeman has a new AD & GV coach this season. Not yet sure how the team will look this season, but with All-County selections Dee Dee Kenny and Logan Dunbar gone, the Bucks will have some big shoes to fill before our December 7th game.

TRUE: Yes, we will be holding a Pancake Breakfast Fundraiser this season. Tickets for the Nov 7th event will be handed out in the next 2-3 days.

TRUE: For the few of you that routinely talk with 14 year-old Raven Hanna, a 5'10 point guard from Freeport, Bahamas, she has informed me that she will be flying to Panama City sometime around Christmas to visit the school and wants to meet the team. Raven has expressed interest in wanting to move to PC and possibly play at CCS. What are the chances that she'll end up wearing blue & silver next season? Only time will tell...
