PLAYING FOR A CHRISTIAN SCHOOL

A few years back, one of our conference rivals allowed a little too much worldly influence into their school and onto their teams [a win at any cost mentality], and as a result, the school developed quite a reputation within the conference and that reputation wasn't at all flattering.

Playing basketball for a Christian school means, as a minimum, the players should not only be a Christian, but the players should exhibit behavior, both on and off the court that displays a Christ-like attitude to those they come in contact with.

It’s all too easy to fall in love with the sinful influences of this world. Whether it's the music we listen to or the shows we watch. When it gets to the point where we are so comfortable around those influences that others would never guess we were Christian, we are straying from what God has in-mind for us. Those ways are not God’s ways.

I think we need to be aware of how our words and our actions (on a daily basis away from the court) are perceived by those who look at us as Christians. We all occasionally stumble in our Christian walk, but you should routinely ask yourself the following question:

Do my words and my actions represent Christ they way they should?
