Here are Six Rules for scoring in the post:
1. Be strong near the basket. Focus on the finish… not on the contact.
2. Get a piece of the paint. If you have at least one foot in the paint, you can get to the rack without a dribble.
3. Get closer. Shoot the ball closer to the basket than where you received the ball.
4. Only one dribble. If you receive the ball outside of the paint, get to the rack with only one power dribble.
5. Use the glass. Always take advantage of the backboard on all shots near the basket.
6. Be an excellent free throw shooter. One third of post player points should come from the foul line.
