Your target area (inside the rim) increases with a higher shot angle. The higher the arc, the larger the target. In theory it makes sense to shoot with a slightly exaggerated high arc (70 degrees), thereby increasing the size of your target. You rarely see good shooters shooting low angle shots (30 degrees).
